The Brief
Hitachi is a global conglomerate that provides expertise & services in a myriad of areas such as transport, energy, robotics, and many more. Together with their wider sustainability strategy as well as becoming a principal partner for 2021’s COP26 event, they were in need of an up to date area of their site that covered their climate change initiatives and their goals going forward.
The Approach
Although Hitachi had pre-defined brand guidelines that had to be followed, these were not necessarily intended for digital design per say & proved to be challenging in the initial stages. Following some benchmarking of similar organisations & conglomerates that had already taken a firm step toward championing sustainability, as well as holding collaborative meetings & workshops with various stakeholders - we succeeded in delivering a concept to everyone’s liking.
The Concept
Not wanting to take away or distract from Hitachi’s core messaging & strategy regarding their new positioning as a climate change innovator, we opted for a minimal & typography led aesthetic while keeping to Hitachi’s distinct branding as much as possible.
Outcome
The client was thrilled with the chosen visual direction as it provided a fresh, novel approach to Hitachi’s brand while also maintaining the focus on their commitment to cutting carbon & ultimately positively impacting our future as climate change innovators.
